William Mullaly, the concertina's first Irish recording artist

Harry Bradshaw

William Mullaly, a native of Co Westmeath, was the first Irish concertina player to record commercially. Harry Bradshaw, who has done extensive research on the life and music of Mullaly, will tell his story and play some of his recordings at the Sonny Murray Memorial Lecture on the opening night of Consairtín 2018 in Ennis. Admission is free and all are welcome to join us for a fascinating insight into this enigmatic figure of traditional Irish music in 1920s America.
